Drug interactions:

Testosterone therapy may interact with certain other drugs or medical conditions. Possible drug interactions include beta-blockers (atenolol), insulin or oral diabetes medicines (glyburide, metformin), carbamazepine, corticosteroids (prednisone), blood thinners (warfarin), and oxyphenbutazone.

Overdosage:

The acute toxicity of testosterone is low.If symptoms of chronic overdose occur (e.g. polycythemia, priapism) treatment should be discontinued and after disappearance of the symptoms, be resumed at lower dosage.

Precautions:

Due to the nature of Testosterone Mix Injection 250mg/ml side effects cannot be quickly reversed by discontinuing medication. Injectables in general,may cause a local reaction at the injection site.

Dosage and adminstration:

Historically, oral administration of physiological testosterone (Figure 1A) has been proven unsuccessful due to extensive first pass metabolism through the liver despite having good gastrointestinal absorption.

Side effects:

The following undesirable effects have been reported in prepubertal children using androgens: precocious sexual development, an ince frequency of erections, phallic enlargement and premature epiphyseal closure.

Warnings:

In pre-pubertal children statural growth and sexual development should be monitored since androgens in general and Testosterone Mix injection 250 mg/ml in high dosages may accelerate epiphyse al closure and sexual maturation.

Supplied / storage:

Testosterone Mix Injection 250mg/ml is supplied in 1 ml ampoule and further such 5 ampoules packed in a carton along with package-insert and should be stored below 30° C and protected from light. Parenteral drug products should be inspected visually for particulate matter and discoloration prior to administration, If it has expired or is damaged, return it to your pharmacist for disposal.
